Rhododendron 'Curlew'
ludlowii X fletcherianum
Glendoick 1970
H4
FCC 1969, AMT 1981, FCCT 1986, AGM (1993) 2012
0.5 by 1m
10 year height/spread: 0.4m/0.5m
Flowers: bright mid yellow with green
tones and some greenish spotting.
April
Good dense growth habit except in deep shade. Incredibly floriferous.
Recognise by: very small rounded dark leaves at the ends of the branches, and
large yellow flowers in trusses of 1 to 3.
An excellent plant given some shade and good drainage. Burns if given
fertiliser. Easily rooted. So much easier to grow than its parents, and can take
their place in all but specialist collections.
